Giant Flower Pot Sculpture Installation Project: July 27-31; 9:30-3:00
Week One of Two Week Project:
During the course of the workshop, students will have the opportunity to cultivate hands-on skills while exploring innovative thinking, design, problem solving, and the creative process. You will work with an artist in the creation of a LARGE community art installation that will be on display outdoors at K12 Gallery & TEJAS. You will learn construction techniques while working collaboratively with other students on the creation of a collection of giant flower pot sculptures inspired by other cultures. Giant flower pots will be painted or covered with mosaics inspired by Asian, European, and South American cultures. Then, you will help create a collection of whimsical wood and ceramic vertical “totems” that will stick out of the flower pots. Students have the option of participating in one week of this workshop or both weeks.
