Description

Drawing & Painting: June 29-July 3; 9:30-3:00

AM: Drawing from Observation Drawing is a cornerstone of artistic expression. Focus on the mechanics of drawing by experimenting with line, shape, space, value and proportions. Projects will include emphasis on shading, blending, value study, ratio & proportion and drawing with a grid. Establishing a solid foundation of technical drawing skills allows you to reproduce your world realistically.  You will be encouraged to follow your natural inclinations while sketching still life’s, landscapes, and self-portraits while learning about sighting & measuring, value, scale and space.  You’ll work with graphite, charcoal, ink, pastels, and watercolor while making a series of drawings.

PM: Oil Painting Spark your inner-artist in this beginner oil painting class.  While working from primarily from observation, you will learn about composition, light, color mixing, color theory, paint application and more.  Projects will include a self-portrait, landscape and interpretation of a work of art by a famous artist.  Bring your creativity, we can help you figure out the techniques and materials!  Finally, create mini “one-shot” paintings of fruit or other objects to sell at the Creative Kids Artist Market at the end of summer.
