ABOUT K12 Gallery & TEJAS
Founded 30 years ago, K12 Gallery and TEJAS is a regional visual arts center offering innovative visual arts programs for all ages in Dayton, Ohio. These programs include art classes, in school and after school art education programs, summer art camps, field trips, professional exhibitions, public art, workshops, community outreach, and art parties for all ages. We are located in the heart of downtown Dayton at 341 S. Jefferson St.
ART TEACHING POSITIONS
Summer Teaching Artists: Teaching artists commit to specific weeks/classes during the summer schedule, 8:30am-3:30pm. See our Summer Camp schedule for examples of our camp offerings. College students studying art and/or education may be considered for this position. Join us for a creative and dynamic summer!
Saturday Art Class Teaching Artists: Please specify what age level and media you are interested in. See our Saturday Art Classes page to learn more about our Saturday art classes. Proficiency in the art media for the class is required. College students studying art and/or education may be considered for this position. Can be combined with other teaching roles.
Special Workshop Instructors: For experienced artists, please let us know your ideas!
Afterschool Art Teaching/Art Therapy 2022-23: Mon-Thur afternoon teaching during the school year. School day Friday on-site classes also available. College students studying art and/or education may be considered for this position. Can be combined with other teaching roles.
Artist in the Schools (Residency) 2022-23: Ongoing school year art teaching in one of our partner schools. The following are requirements for the Artist in Residence teaching position:
- Bachelors Degree
- Degree in art or related level of artistic achievement
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Works well in a collaborative environment
- Background check
The following are helpful teaching experience for our Artist in Residence positions:
- Teaching Experience
- MFA, M.Ed, or MA
- State of Ohio Teaching Certification (not required)

Internships
INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES – summer and school year internships available
Thank you for your interest in applying for a summer internship at K12 Gallery & TEJAS!
K12 Gallery & TEJAS internship program welcomes students age 16-21 who wish to supplement their education and professional experience by working in a nonprofit arts organization. We offer 2-3 paid internship positions during the summer ($8.50/hour) and 2-3 unpaid internship positions.. The successful applicants will gain valuable experiential education in a challenging, hands-on environment.
The summer internship involves assisting K12 Gallery & TEJAS staff and teaching artists with summer camp programming. This may involve prepping materials, assisting in the classroom, cleaning, organizing, hanging artwork, help with field trips & lunch times, etc. Internships can range from general to specific. If you are a college student who wishes to develop in a focus areas, such as marketing, design, exhibitions & retail, teaching, grant writing, non-profit finance, etc, please indicate this in your cover letter.
